Founder of Coscharis Group, Dr. Cosmas Maduka, has claimed he turned down the request of an unnamed former Plateau Governor to inflate the invoice for cars supplied by his company.
He claimed the company already supplied the vehicles valued at N40m but the Governor requested the invoice should reflect N80m effectively doubling the actual cost of the purchase.
Speaking in a recent broadcast, the billionaire businessman said: ‘’I told them I don’t do it. Of course I told them I don’t do it. They said ‘if you don’t do it, you don’t have business’ and I said ‘okay, good luck’ and I left.
‘’Somebody else had to buy those cars from us at our own invoice and inflated for them. I cannot launder money for you.’’
To prove the company does not condone inflated invoicing, Maduka, who has been seen preaching on streets, added: ‘’Have you heard that any Senator or House of Assembly come to buy motor from us? They bought Range Rovers and shared them but they cannot buy from us because we will write the amount they bought it in the invoice.
‘’Therefore, they cannot but from us. They have to go through third party. They even don’t know we are the brand representatives so why would the business not come to us?”
