VIDEO: Jubilation as military battalions arrive Oyo town

There was jubilation on Wednesday when soldiers under the 170 Battalion arrived Kiishi, headquarters of the Irepo Local Government Area in Oyo State.

The arrival was sequel to the approval of establishment of two military battalions in Iseyin and Kiishi towns in the Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State by President Bola Tinubu.

The area has been plagued by abductions and attacks by herdsmen in recent times, leading to the establishment of the battalions.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Major General AB Mahmuda, during a courtesy visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, said the battalions would operate under the supervision of the newly established Military Brigade and Garrison in Oyo town.

In a video on social media, residents were seen hailing the soldiers as they arrived Kiishi.

Many of them were heard saying ‘’God bless Nigerian Army,’’ ‘’You are all welcome’’ with some singing ‘’Welcome, we have been expecting you. Hope you arrived well?’’
