A content creator The MOM Trotter has brought her 13-year-old son from America to school in Nigeria.
In a video on social media, she shared the first day of her son in the school, which some online users identified as Charterhouse Lagos, a British-style school that opened its secondary boarding in 2025 with modern facilities and a curriculum of UK standards.
The excited mother followed her son to his room in the boarding school with eye-catching luxury, proving that Nigeria has schools that can compete with international standards.
She is one of the many Diasporans sending their children back home to experience the rich culture and moral upbringings.
On why she took the decision, she wrote on Tiktok: "After homeschooling my son his whole life and travelling to over 65 countries together, saying he’s now in boarding school in Nigeria definitely catches people off guard. But here’s the thing, I went to boarding school at 9 & so did my mom. If you grew up in Cameroon like I did, then you know it’s normal. By Form 1 / Year 7 (middle school in the U.S.), my friends and I were heading off to boarding school. That experience shaped me, and I wanted my A to have that too."
