Atletico Madrid celebrate Lookman's 29th birthday, responds with assist
Atlético Madrid celebrated Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman's 29th birthday with a special video featuring some of his best goals, accompanied by Asake's Nigerian hit Oba instead of the usual match commentary.
The montage captures the Super Eagles forward in action against several big-name opponents, including Real Betis, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Real Sociedad and Sevilla.
The clips showcase his dribbling, close control and ability to find the net against high-profile opposition.
One of the highlights comes from Lookman's Atlético debut against Real Betis in February 2026.
The Nigerian scored in a 5-0 Copa del Rey quarter-final victory, announcing himself to his new supporters in style.
The video also includes his goal against Real Madrid as well as strikes against Barcelona in both the Copa del Rey and Champions League.
His European goal against Barça was particularly important, helping Atlético progress to the semi-finals despite losing the second leg 2-1.
Lookman also scored against Real Sociedad in the 2026 Copa del Rey final, while his goal against Sevilla added another La Liga opponent to the collection.
Rather than letting the original match commentary tell the story, Atlético use Asake's Oba as the soundtrack throughout the highlights. The choice gives the tribute a distinctly Nigerian feel while allowing the goals to speak for themselves.
The song title is also a fitting touch. Oba means “king” in Yoruba, making it an appropriate soundtrack for a birthday tribute celebrating one of Nigeria's leading footballers.
Lookman turns 29 on October 20, having built an impressive career across England, Germany, Italy and Spain.
His standout spell at Atalanta included a historic hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, which secured the Italian club's first major European trophy.
He was subsequently named African Footballer of the Year in 2024, recognising his impact for club and country.
To reward the club, Ademola Lookman responded coming off the bench to provide an assist for Atletico Madrid to draw level at Stuggart in a UEFA Champions League tie on his 29th birthday last night.
The Super Eagles forward provided a cute assist for Julian Alvarez to score his first goal of the season and for the Spanish club to salvage a result in Germany.
