Police rescue 15-year-old kidnap victim, neutralise suspect in Oyo

Oyo State Police Command has rescued a 15-year-old kidnapped victim and neutralised a suspected kidnapper during a security operation along the Awe-Iwo Road axis.

The victim was abducted from the Onidundun area of Akinyele Local Government Area on October 18 with his abductors reportedly demanding ransom.

The police said operatives, working with the Oyo Zone Vigilante Group of Nigeria, rescued the boy on October 22 after a gun duel with the suspects.

One suspected kidnapper was killed while other gang members fled with suspected gunshot injuries.

An Android phone and a cutlass were recovered during the operation.

The command urged residents and healthcare workers to report anyone with suspicious gunshot wounds to help apprehend the fleeing suspects.
