In a move to promote financial literacy and wealth creation for youths, the Aliko Dangote Foundation said it is planning to acquire Initial Public Offering (IPO) shares in Dangote Refinery for up to four million eligible Nigerian tertiary institution students.
Under the programme, students aged 18 and above who meet the requirements could qualify for an additional 10 shares after purchasing at least 10 shares through the designated subscription channel.
Education Minister Dr Tunji Alausa hailed the initiative, which he described as a boost to financial literacy, youth empowerment and wealth creation.
In a statement on Monday, October 19, the Minister commended Aliko Dangote and the foundation for introducing eligible students to capital market investment.
Alausa said the initiative would expose students to responsible investing and long-term financial planning, preparing them for greater economic participation.
He added that the programme aligns with the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Minister reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to partnerships with the private sector to improve educational quality and equip learners with relevant skills.
He also urged other corporate organisations to introduce similar initiatives to support youth development and financial inclusion.
Alausa clarified that the ministry’s commendation did not constitute an endorsement of any particular investment decision.
