Ebola patient recovering, FG declares

Nigeria’s confirmed Ebola patient is showing signs of recovery, two days after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) reported that her condition had deteriorated to multi-organ failure.

The patient, a Ugandan-born woman who contracted the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, was earlier isolated to help prevent the possible spread of the virus.

In an X update on October 22, 2026, the Federal Ministry of Health said there was no evidence of community spread.

“Contact tracing, quarantine and monitoring continue, alongside strengthened national coordination, health facility preparedness and public health measures,” the ministry said.

The government urged Nigerians to follow recommended precautions, rely on information from recognised health authorities and avoid sharing unverified reports.
