Edo refinery begins repair of sections of East-West road
The repair will prevent trucks from falling on the failed portions bringing relief to road users.
The Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Ltd and the SODEOSA Global Resources have begun palliative repairs of some failed portions of the East-West road.
The repair on the failed portions between Iyanomo and Koko junction is to prevent trucks from falling on the road.
Chairman of Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Ltd., Ologbo, Mr. Mike Osime, said the carnage on the road in past years made travellers trapped in traffic gridlock.
He said some persons were burnt to death as a result of fire from a fuel tanker.
"It is better to intervene to fix the road to prevent trucks and tankers from falling to avert such incidents from happening.
"The Edo Refinery had in past intervened in the repairs of failed portions of the Benin-Warri Road,’’ he said.
MD/CEO of SODEOSA Global Resources, Solomon Uyiekpen, said: "The area we are covering is failed spots between Iyanomo and Koko junction. What we are doing is palliative for the road to be accessible for trucks and other vehicles plying the busy road".
