Enugu Air has commenced its inaugural international service from Enugu to Douala, Cameroon — a landmark moment that signals a new chapter in Enugu’s economic and regional connectivity.

Driven by Governor Peter Mbah’s strategic vision to reposition Enugu as a premier destination for commerce, investment, tourism and enterprise, the new route connects two important economic centres: Enugu, a major commercial hub in South-East Nigeria, and Douala, Cameroon’s leading commercial gateway to Central Africa.

A statement by the airline said: ‘’This is more than the launch of a new flight. It is the opening of a corridor of opportunity — connecting businesses, traders, investors, tourists, families and ideas; shortening travel and supply chains; and creating new possibilities for cross-border trade and regional economic integration.

‘’For decades, businesses and entrepreneurs across the South-East have faced significant barriers accessing Central African markets. With this new direct connection, Enugu is taking a decisive step towards dismantling those barriers and strengthening its position as a gateway between Nigeria, Central Africa and the wider continent.

‘’The milestone also elevates the strategic importance of Akanu Ibiam International Airport while advancing Governor Mbah’s broader agenda of using aviation and infrastructure as catalysts for economic transformation.’’
