After much deliberations and contributions from critical stakeholders, the Federal Government has released the final list of approved textbooks for use in schools across the nation from 2026-2028.

The Federal Ministry of Education, in a statement by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, said the approved list covers textbooks for Primary 1, Primary 4, Junior Secondary School 1 and Senior Secondary School 1.

The statement reads: “Each approved title carries a unique Ranking/QR Tracking Code, alongside key details including the title, author(s), publisher and year of publication, to facilitate identification, monitoring and accountability.”

Minister of Education Tunji Alausa and Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad conducted and supervised the exercise with the final list approved by Alausa.

The Ministry said the textbook ranking exercise would be implemented in phases, with the second phase covering four additional class levels.

It urged publishers, schools, education authorities, procurement agencies and other stakeholders to use the approved list when selecting and procuring textbooks for the affected classes.

It said the exercise was part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve the quality and accountability of instructional materials provided in schools.
