Hydrogen Payment Services Company Limited has empowered secondary school students and teachers on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Lagos.

The training took place at the first edition of its AI4Learning Initiative in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and its Education District III office.

The initiative, an educative programme for secondary schools under the Lagos State Government, is also to help them put their knowledge to good use in their learning, teaching and everyday life.

The Teachers Learning Programme was hosted at Victoria Island Senior Secondary School while the Students Learning Programme held at Kuramo Senior College, located at Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The core message throughout the programme was that AI should serve as an assistant, rather than a replacement for human judgment.

People who participated in the programme explored how AI can make learning and teaching more seamless, efficient, memorable and impactful, while recognising the importance of verifying information, protecting personal data and maintaining responsibility for the work and decisions AI supports.

Acting Chief Executive Officer of Hydrogen Payment Services Company, Fiyinfoluwa Olorunsola, said: “AI4Learning reflects our belief that technology creates greater impact when people have the knowledge and confidence to use it well.

‘’We want teachers and students to embrace AI, explore its possibilities and understand its limitations, while developing the judgement to use it effectively in teaching and learning.”
