Iheanacho makes Turkish goal-scoring history with brace, assist

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho made history on Thursday with two goals and an assist helping Bursaspor secure a convincing 3-0 victory against Muğlaspor in an away clash.

The Nigerian international delivered another match-winning display to extend his remarkable scoring streak.

With his two goals, he has scored in 10 consecutive league matches for Bursaspor, a new record in Turkish football.

His latest contribution takes his tally to an impressive 14 goals and three assists across the 10-match scoring run, underlining his exceptional productivity in front of goal.

Iheanacho becomes the first player to score in ten consecutive games in the history of Turkish football.

He surpassed the feat of Metin Oktay who scored in 9 consecutive matches in the Süper Lig in the 1962-1963 season for Galatasaray, and Saffet Sancaklı with the same return in the 1995-1996 season in a Kocaelispor jersey.

The former Manchester City star said he was happy with his performance.

“I’m happy with my performance as well, helping the team move up the table. We are now second in the league, so we hope to get more points,” Iheanacho told beIN SPORTS.

“Hopefully, the goals will keep coming, and at the end, we will crown our efforts with victory.”
