JAMB eases candidates’ stress over lost phone numbers, email

Precious Olugbodi

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced measures to ease candidates’ stress over lost phone numbers and errors in registered email addresses.

JAMB Nodal Officer, Abiola Bello Kamarudeen, disclosed this while answering a question on Good Morning Nigeria, a programme on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

He said candidates can now change their registered phone numbers and email addresses under measures designed to protect their records and prevent fraudulent activities.

Kamarudeen explained that phone numbers, email addresses and registration numbers serve as unique identifiers for candidates and are protected by security measures.

He said the board previously maintained strict rules on changing registered phone numbers because of the risks associated with unauthorised alterations to candidates’ records.

However, he said the board had introduced technological safeguards to allow legitimate changes while preventing abuse of the system. Kamarudeen added that candidates who entered incorrect email addresses during registration could also change them, enabling them to access JAMB’s services with valid details.
