Excitement as LAUTECH cleaners get over 400% pay rise
Cleaners at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH) have received a pay rise of over 400 percent.
Each of the cleaners was receiving a paltry sum of N15,000 monthly, a far cry from the national minimum wage of N70,000.
But Governor Seyi Makinde increased their monthly take-home from N15,000 to N80,000 representing over 400% rise.
A statement by Makinde’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olarenwaju, said the increment was announced at a meeting with stakeholders at the teaching hospital on Thursday.
The announcement, Naijagoodnews, gathered created excitement among the workers who praised the Governor for the raise.
The statement reads: “Governor Makinde approved an increase in the monthly salary of cleaners at the Teaching Hospital from ₦15,000 to ₦80,000, aligning their pay with the national minimum wage.”
The decision followed an appeal by the cleaners, who met the Governor during his visit.
The Commissioner for Health, Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, commended the governor’s support for the health sector and assured workers that the administration was committed to addressing recurring strikes.
