Lekki landlord slashes tenant’s rent by half after twins’ arrival

A landlord in Lekki Lagos has proven that good landlords abound in Nigeria.

Showing unexpected kindness and consideration, the unnamed landlord reduced the rent of his tenant whose wife recently gave birth to twins through caesarean section.

A lawyer and social media influencer, Oluwadamilola confirmed this through her X handle @Dammi_Esq.

She wrote on Wednesday September 30: ‘’ My friend just welcomed twins through CS, and this morning she called me crying.

‘’I immediately thought something was wrong with the babies.

‘’Turns out, her landlord had just sent her a letter reducing their rent by 50%.

‘’I asked her to send me the letter because I honestly couldn’t believe it. I read it twice.

‘’In Lagos? A landlord actually reducing rent because his tenant’s wife just gave birth to twins? I don’t even know what to say.’’

The letter addressed to the tenant identified as Adeyemi Johnson titled: ’Temporary reduction of rent’ reads: ‘’I was informed your wife recently gave birth to twins recently. I understand this period comes with extra medical and family expenses.

‘’In view of this, I have decided to reduce your rent by 50%for the next six months starting from October 2026.

‘’Please treat this as official confirmation of the new rent arrangement.’’
