Nigeria beats Tunisia to host 2028 ITTF African Championships
Nigeria has won the bid to host the 2028 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) African Championships.
Nigeria has not hosted the competition since 1992.
It won the hosting rights with 23 votes ahead of Tunisia’s 15 at the ITTF Africa Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Tangier, Morocco, on Thursday.
President of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Adesoji Tayo, assured the competition holding in Lagos would be seamless and world-class.
“We want to thank all the delegates for placing their trust in Nigeria to host both the 2028 African Championships and the 2027 African Para Championships,” Tayo said.
“As experienced organisers of major international table tennis events, we are committed to delivering a seamless and successful tournament. Lagos will once again welcome the continent’s finest players, and we assure all visitors that Nigeria will be the place to be in 2028.”
Nigeria also won the hosting rights for the 2027 African para-table tennis championships.
The AGM also ratified host nations for other upcoming continental competitions:
2027 Africa Cup: Libya

2027 Youth Championships: Botswana
2027 African Para Championships: Nigeria
2028 African Championships: Nigeria
