Nigerian tailor completes 120-hour sewing marathon Guinness World Record bid

Admin · UPDATED

Kano-based tailor Abdulkadir Hassanul Basari has completed a 120-hour non-stop sewing marathon in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest sewing marathon.

Naijagoodnews had reported another Nigerian tailor Oluwaseun Kuforiji is the current record holder with 106 hours, 55 minutes and 20 seconds recognised in March 2025.

Basari is attempting to surpass the former record and become the official holder.

During the five-day challenge, Basari sewed school uniforms for underprivileged children, using his craft to support education and give back to the community.

The five-day challenge, tagged Sew for the Nation ended on Monday, October 12, 2026, at the sports complex of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Kano.

Social media clips showed the moment Hassan completed the 120-hour marathon bid with the audience clapping vigorously.

He was seen being congratulated by dignitaries as he shed tears of joy on the accomplishment.

Guinness World Record is yet to confirm if his bid has been officially recognised.
