RCCG youths give out clothes, shoes, others in Lagos

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Youth Province 1 has given out clothes, shoes and other essentials to vulnerable residents in Lagos to promote social inclusion and alleviate hardship.

The outreach, organised on Sunday, October 11, 2026, under the leadership of Pastor Oluwagbemileke Adeboye, took place at Ogba Taxi Park, Ogba, Ikeja with children, women and elderly people among the beneficiaries.

The exercise is part of the province’s ongoing Christian Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to restore hope and address the needs of disadvantaged members of the community.

The initiative also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 1, which seeks to end poverty in all its forms.

Speaking on the outreach, the Assistant Pastor in Charge of Province (CSR), Pastor Martins Olusakin, said the initiative aimed to restore dignity and ensure the church’s message of love translated into practical support.

“This Clothes Drive is about restoring dignity. For many families, decent clothing is a challenge, especially now. Our mandate is to ensure that love is not just preached but seen and felt,” he said.

Olusakin added that the initiative reflected the province’s commitment to reducing poverty and ensuring no one in the community felt forgotten or excluded.

Assistant Pastor in Charge of Province (CSR 2) and Pastor-in-Charge of RCCG Living Seed Church (Home Indeed), Pastor Adeola Abolaji, said compassion was central to the Christian faith.

“Clothing someone is a profound act of love. The Bible says if a brother or sister is naked and destitute, we must not just say ‘be warmed’ but provide what is needed,” he said.

Abolaji described the clothes drive as a practical demonstration of Christ’s love and a reminder that the church cared about community members’ welfare.

The Assistant Pastor in Charge of Province (Admin), Pastor Patrick Mokwunye, expressed satisfaction with the initiative and commended the volunteers for their efforts and beneficiaries for their patience.

Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the support, saying it came at a time when they needed it most.
