750 Enugu women to get N200,000 business grant each

Precious Olugbodi

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced plans to provide ₦200,000 business grants to 750 women in Enugu State.

She made the announcement on Saturday during the launch of the South-East Women Mega Empowerment Programme at Okpara Square, Enugu.

According to the First Lady, the grants will be disbursed on December 3 with 250 women expected to benefit from each of the state’s three senatorial districts.

The financial support is intended to help the beneficiaries establish businesses and strengthen their economic activities.

Tinubu also announced a separate support programme for 750 elderly persons scheduled for December 17.

The intervention will cover 250 beneficiaries across each of Enugu State’s three senatorial districts.

Speaking at the event, she recalled her previous visits to the South-East and said she had observed the contributions of women in the region.

The rally also featured the distribution of empowerment materials, including sewing machines, food processors, generating sets and popcorn machines, to women from Enugu, Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi and Imo states.
