Nigerian rapper, Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide, has called for greater appreciation of Yoruba culture and traditions, urging people to stop portraying indigenous practices as diabolical.

The music star stressed the importance of embracing one's roots and taking pride in cultural heritage, insisting that traditional practices should not be demonised.

“Our culture and our tradition are not diabolical and should not be demonised. I'm a Yoruba boy; if you give me black soap, I will collect it,” he said.

He further emphasised that people should be proud of their origins, heritage and cultural identity, describing the promotion of indigenous traditions as an important way of preserving cultural values.

His comments draw attention to the need to challenge misconceptions about African cultural practices and encourage younger generations to appreciate their heritage.
