Abuja school gets 50 chairs after eight years without seats
Pupils of Kigbe LEA Primary School in Yebu Ward, Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have received 50 chairs following reports that they had spent more than eight years learning without adequate seating facilities.
The intervention comes after concerns were raised over the learning conditions at the school, where 248 pupils reportedly sat on bare floors and improvised wooden planks during lessons.
According to an update shared by TrackaNG on X, the Kwali Area Council Government provided 20 wooden chairs, while a concerned individual facilitated the donation of 30 plastic chairs.
The development offers some relief to the pupils, whose plight attracted public attention following reports highlighting the school's challenges.
Earlier reports also highlighted the absence of basic classroom furniture, deteriorating floors and other inadequate facilities affecting the pupils' learning environment.
Although the provision of 50 chairs represents a step towards improving conditions at the school, further interventions are needed to ensure that all pupils have access to a safe and conducive learning environment.
