Five Nollywood stars named executive producers of 'The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives'

Five Nollywood actors, Odunlade Adekola, Iyabo Ojo, Mercy Aigbe, Bimbo Ademoye and Omowunmi Dada, have been named executive producers of the upcoming feature film, The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives.

The Baba Segi Collective made the annoincement in a statement on October 31, 2026.

The five actors, who also star in the film, will contribute to its strategic vision, global distribution and executive direction, extending their roles beyond on-screen performances.

They join other executive producers, including Mo Abudu, Nnaeto Orazulike, Moses Babatope, Guy Murray-Bruce, Cecil Hammond and Keke Hammond.

Reacting to the development, the actors described the move as an opportunity for African creatives, particularly women, to take greater ownership of the stories told about their communities and how they reach global audiences.

The film, directed by Daniel Oriahi, is an adaptation of Lola Shoneyin’s acclaimed novel, exploring themes of power, patriarchy, secrets and survival.

It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), received recognition at the BFI London Film Festival and was also selected for Film Africa. The production marks EbonyLife Films' return to cinemas after a seven-year break. It is scheduled to open in cinemas across Africa on December 4, 2026, with international and diaspora releases beginning December 11.
