Nigeria not beyond redemption-Akinola
Presiding Bishop/Pastor-General of Rhema Christian Church & Towers Ota Ogun State, Archbishop Taiwo Akinola, has declared Nigeria is not beyond redemption.
He spoke with reporters ahead of the Rhema World Convention 2026, which coincides with the 35th anniversary of the church.
The convention with the theme ”More than conquerors“ holds from November 1-8 at the church’s headquarters in Ota, Ogun State.
Akinola said Nigeria can still become a thriving, prospering nation despite current challenges saying those who write off the country have no idea what God can do.
According to him: ”It’s very wrong to write off Nigeria or any nation of the earth because God can move anything. Nigeria is never beyond redemption. This nation can prosper and thrive again. It takes only a moment by God and the cooperation of human beings to make things happen.‘‘
He called on the government to tackle youth restiveness and unemployment, stating Nigerians must be given the right environment to deploy their productive skills for personal and national fulfillment.
He also pointed to insecurity and food scarcity as basic challenges that governments must give attention to, saying Nigerians deserve to be safe and fed without hassles.
According to him: ”Government should strengthen domestic production, food security, agricultural storage, transportation infrastructure, and properly targeted social protection programmes.
Economic progress must be judged not merely by impressive statistics but by the purchasing power, dignity, and living conditions of ordinary Nigerians.‘‘
On the forthcoming polls, he called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a free and fair exercise, saying vote-buying, intimidation and other malpractices must be addressed frontally to give Nigerians confidence on the process.
He said the church has gone through a lot of transformations in the last 35 years, insisting its biggest achievements remain the changed lives and destinies aside from many infrastructural and community initiatives.
He said the theme was borne out of the realisation that ‘‘adversity need not extinguish hope, difficulties must not destroy faith, and believers can triumph through the unfailing grace and power of Jesus Christ.’’
“More Than Conquerors” is not merely a declaration of personal victory but a call to spiritual courage, responsible leadership, and decisive action in confronting national challenges.
‘’Our message “More Than Conquerors” is one of faith, responsibility, courage, and hope. We call on political leaders to rise above selfish interests, institutions to rise above negligence, and citizens to rise above apathy.’’
The sessions, which hold by 6am, 10am and 5pm, will attract thousands of believers within and outside with Bishop Tunde Akin-Akinsanya, Bishop Ayoola Olubusuyi, Bishop Israel Alaya, Bishop Adesina Olufade, Pastor Femi Gbenjo, Pastor Tofunmi Opaleye, Pastor Rotimi Daniel, Pastor Tunde Bolarinwa, Pastor Daniel Etebong Henshaw, and Pastor Samuel Olusakin, among others ministering.
