Doris Israel Ijeoma

Nigerian photographer Dayo Adedayo has emerged as Africa’s Best Tourism Photographer of the year at the African Tourism Awards held in London, United Kingdom.

The award ceremony took place on Sunday, November 1, 2026 at the Hilton London Canary Wharf.

The event attracted leading figures, organisations and professionals in the African tourism and hospitality industry to celebrate achievements across more than 30 sectors.

The ceremony recognised individuals and organisations making contributions to the growth, development and sustainability of tourism across the African continent.

Adedayo announced his latest achievement in a social media post, expressing gratitude to God, his family, friends, supporters and everyone who voted for him.

The photographer said the recognition was particularly special to him because it came after more than 40 years of working with his camera to promote Nigeria's natural beauty, cultural traditions and historical heritage.

He described the award as a victory not only for himself but also for Nigeria and the wider African tourism industry.

According to him, photography remains an important tool for telling African stories, introducing the continent's attractions to international audiences and encouraging more people to explore its destinations.

Adedayo also appreciated those who had supported his career over the years, noting that their encouragement and contributions had played a part in his journey.

He expressed determination to continue using photography to document Africa's rich cultural identity, natural resources and historical landmarks.

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci was also recognised as Restaurant Personality of the Year.
