Precious Olugbodi

Ekiti State University (EKSU) Ado-Ekiti has secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to introduce six new undergraduate degree programmes from the 2027/2028 academic session.

The approval, contained in a letter dated October 22, 2026, followed a resource verification exercise conducted by the NUC to assess the university's available human and material resources and ensure compliance with national academic standards.

The newly approved programmes are B.A. Christian Theology; B.Sc. Transport Management; B.Sc. Security and Investment Management, B.Sc. Information and Communication Technology, B.Sc. Industrial Mathematics and B.Sc. Criminology.

According to a statement by the university's Information and Corporate Affairs department, the approval covers full-time undergraduate studies and does not extend to part-time programmes.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, expressed delight over the development and appreciated the NUC Executive Secretary for granting the approval.

He also acknowledged the support of Ekiti State Governor and Visitor to the university, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, towards the institution's academic development.

The approval is expected to expand academic opportunities for prospective students seeking to pursue careers in technology, transportation, security, mathematics and criminology, beginning from the 2027/2028 academic session.
