The Federal Government has released ₦38.93 billion to 166 public tertiary institutions across Nigeria to address infrastructure gaps and improve teaching and learning facilities.
The intervention, implemented under the Needs Assessment Revitalisation Fund, covers 79 universities, 46 polytechnics and 41 colleges of education nationwide.
According to a statement by the Federal Ministry of Finance’s Head of Media, Efe Ovuakporie, the allocation comprises ₦28.5 billion for universities, ₦5.8 billion for polytechnics and ₦4.7 billion for colleges of education.
The funding is expected to enable beneficiary institutions to commence new projects or continue previously approved ones aimed at improving their facilities and institutional capacity.
The initiative also supports the implementation of measures agreed upon by the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) under their Memorandum of Understanding.
The ministry emphasised the importance of collaboration among the relevant government agencies and beneficiary institutions to ensure that the funds translate into tangible improvements in educational infrastructure.
The intervention is expected to help participating institutions address critical facility needs and create better conditions for teaching and learning.
