Jigawa sends 65 scholars to China for postgraduate studies in agriculture
Jigawa Governor Umar Namadi has bid farewell to 65 scholars travelling to China for postgraduate studies in agriculture and related disciplines.
The scholars comprise 50 master’s students and 15 PhD candidates who will spend three and five years, respectively, acquiring specialised knowledge to support agricultural development in the state.
Namadi disclosed this in a post on X, describing the programme as an investment in human capital and the future of Jigawa’s agricultural sector.
He said the initiative would strengthen agricultural research and equip the scholars with skills to address challenges facing farmers.
The Governor also highlighted the state’s support for research into important crops, including sesame, wheat, rice and hibiscus.
He urged the scholars to remain focused, respect the laws and culture of their host country, and apply the knowledge gained to the development of Jigawa upon their return.
Namadi congratulated the students and their families, expressing hope that the scholars would return better equipped to contribute to the state’s agricultural transformation.
