Presidential aide donates 132-bed hostel for indigent students to LASU

Admin

Personal Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Constituency Affairs, Hon. Khadijat Omotayo Kareem, has donated a 132-bed hostel to Lagos State University (LASU) to alleviate accommodation challenges facing indigent and vulnerable students.

Kareem announced the donation during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Prof. Ayodeji Badejo.

The donation, she said, is to support students experiencing financial difficulties, including persons living with disabilities, by improving their access to safe and convenient accommodation within the university community.

She led the Vice-Chancellor on a tour of the hostel facility, which will be formally handed over to the university upon completion.

Strategically located near the university’s main hostels, the facility is expected to integrate seamlessly into the existing student residential community and provide beneficiaries with convenient access to campus facilities.

The initiative is also expected to complement LASU’s ongoing efforts to improve student welfare and promote inclusive access to educational opportunities, particularly for students whose financial circumstances may limit their ability to secure accommodation.

Prof. Badejo expressed appreciation to Hon. Kareem for the gesture, noting that the donation would contribute significantly to the university’s efforts to address students’ accommodation needs.

She acknowledged the importance of initiatives that support indigent and vulnerable members of the university community, particularly those aimed at improving students’ welfare and ensuring that financial difficulties do not become additional barriers to their education.

The hostel facility is expected to strengthen the university’s existing accommodation arrangements and provide additional support for students who might otherwise struggle to secure suitable housing.
