BREAKING: Flamingos qualify for World Cup final, beat Brazil
The girls proved too much for their Brazilian opponents, totally outplaying them on their way to the World Cup final.
Nigeria qualified for the final of the U-17 Women World Cup on Wednesday with a comprehensive 3-1 victory over Brazil.
The three goals came in the second half after the Flamingo girls wasted many scoring opportunities in the first half.
Queen Joseph broke the deadlock in the 56th minute when she tapped in a ball from star striker Oluwakemi Adegbuyi.
Awawu Bashiru doubled the advantage in the 71st minute with a lob from the left wing of the field, which deceived the Brazilian defence and went into the net.
The third goal came from a brilliant team play converted by Awawu Bashiru with the Brazilian defence well beaten.
Their consolation goal came for Brazil in the extra time when it was too late to harm the Nigerian girls.
The Flamingos played a fantastic game, dazzling with speed, technicality and energetic movement, which proved too mesmerising for the Brazil’s girls.
The victory sends the Flamingos to an historic final with Japan, which beat defending champions DPR Korea earlier 5-4 on penalties after 1-1 scoreline during regulation time.
The final holds on Saturday November 7 by 7:30pm local time.
