Delta allocates 99.99 hectares for animal feed plant for food security

The Delta State Government has allocated 99.99 hectares of land at Ogwashi-Uku to Olam Agri for the establishment of an animal feed production plant to strengthen agricultural development and food security.

The government announced the development on its official X account following the presentation of a Certificate of Occupancy to the company.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who presented the certificate at Government House, Asaba, said the investment would expand agricultural opportunities, create jobs and improve livelihoods.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for genuine investors, noting that peace and cooperation were essential to attracting investments.

Olam Agri’s Managing Director, Amit Agarwal, said the facility would bring animal feed production closer to markets in the South-South and South-East, helping to address the regions’ supply deficit.

The proposed plant is expected to reduce the regions’ dependence on animal feed supplies from the South-West and strengthen the livestock value chain.
