Ex-AfDB President Adesina: I’m back home, ready to help Nigeria
Former President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, has expressed readiness to support Nigeria’s economic transformation.
Adesina said he is committed to helping the country achieve growth and prosperity.
“I’m back at home, here to help and ready to help. It’s my country. I love my country. And I’m ready to help,” Adesina said during a visit to Nigeria.
He said the country’s economic reforms were beginning to yield results, citing increased foreign exchange availability, renewed interest from portfolio investors and a downward trend in inflation.
According to him, Nigeria’s international economic outlook has also changed, with some rating agencies assigning the country stable ratings and positive outlooks.
Adesina, however, stressed that the progress made through economic reforms and stabilisation should lead to a stronger focus on structural transformation, economic growth and prosperity.
He noted that although the prices of goods and services remained high, inflation was trending downwards.
He added that he had told President Bola Tinubu he was ready to support the country’s efforts to achieve sustainable growth and prosperity.
