Kebbi cyclist wins Guinness World Records for riding tallest bicycle
A cyclist from Kebbi State, Bello Muhammad, has received recognition from the Guinness World Records for riding the tallest unsupported bicycle, measuring 2.9 metres (9 feet 5 inches).
Muhammad received a plaque from Guinness World Records for riding the tallest bicycle unassisted on September 22, 2026 in Kebbi State.
The recognition prompted the Kebbi State Government to reaffirm commitment to youth development, talent discovery and innovation.
Presenting the Guinness World Records certificate to the State Government, the Patron of the Equity Cyclists Association, Alhaji Abubakar Bagudu Dallatun Kalgo, attributed the achievement to the administration’s support for initiatives aimed at empowering young people.
He said Muhammad, a student associated with the organisation, had demonstrated exceptional abilities in electronics, technology and design, in addition to his cycling feat.
According to him, the achievement followed the discovery and promotion of Muhammad’s talent through social media and other platforms, rather than lobbying.
“There was no lobbying involved. His talent was discovered through social media and other media platforms, which reportedly reached an audience of about two million followers and helped bring his achievement to international attention,” he said.
Kalgo also acknowledged the role of Governor Nasir Idris in creating an environment that encourages young people to develop their skills and become self-reliant.
Idris, who was represented by the Head of Service, Alhaji Mallami Shekare, congratulated Muhammad, describing his accomplishment as a demonstration of the ingenuity, determination and resourcefulness of Kebbi youths.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting young people who show dedication to developing their talents, acquiring useful skills and contributing to the state’s social and economic development.
He urged youths across the state to embrace creativity, innovation, technical skills and entrepreneurship as pathways to self-reliance and economic growth.
As part of the government’s support for youth development, Shekare donated ₦1 million to the Equity Cyclists Association to strengthen its activities and support efforts to identify and nurture talented young people across the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK, also commended the achievement, describing it as an accomplishment that had brought international recognition to Kebbi State.
